Report: Liverpool want £8.5m man who ‘wants to leave’ club, Klopp sees 30 y/o as ‘rotation’

Liverpool aren’t short of options in midfield with Fabinho, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Curtis Jones at their disposal, but Fichajes say Jurgen Klopp would like to bring Aaron Ramsey to Anfield as ‘rotation’.

The 30-year-old ‘wants to leave’ Juventus after struggling for fitness and playing time this season, but it remains to be seen if a soon-to-be 31-year-old midfielder is really what Klopp needs given how much depth he already has in the engine room.

Ramsey joined Juventus on a four-year deal from Arsenal in 2019 and has gone on to make 70 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals with six assists. The Welsh international, who has scored 20 goals in 71 games for his country, has fallen out of favour in his third season at Juve.

Ramsey has made 5/20 appearances in all competitions, amassing a paltry 112 minutes of playing time from a possible 1800. The 30-year-old finds himself behind Manuel Locatelli, Arthur, Adrien Rabiot, Rodrigo Bentancur and Weston McKennie in the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri, so the writing is on the wall.

Liverpool would have to pay €10m (£8.5m) to sign Ramsey from the Old Lady, but they would need to match his £400k-per-week/£20.8m-a-year wages which might be too steep. Ramsey is in the eve of his career and hasn’t been in the best form of late, so why would the Reds be so keen to sign him?

Summary

Klopp has so many midfielders to juggle in his squad, so there’s no fervent need to sign another.

Ramsey may be open to leaving Juventus and might be keen on a return to England after two years in Italy, but it’s hard to see him coming to Anfield.

The Welshman wouldn’t be a regular in midfield if he did join Liverpool, so why move from one bench to another?
