It’s going to be a huge summer of change at Paris Saint-Germain with Lionel Messi one of the big names set to depart over the coming weeks.

A season earlier, PSG took the spotlight in the football arena. The signing of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnaruma meant that PSG were coming for the top prize in Europe – the UEFA Champions League.

The PSG owners, Qatar Sports Investments, were fishing in big money to get the top players in the world to wear the PSG shirt and doubled Kylian Mbappe’s paycheck to keep him at the club and not leave for Real Madrid

Two seasons later, PSG are in tatters, with no Champions League secured and players opting to exit. The Parisian club has since then clinched the Ligue 1 title in both seasons, but it wasn’t why the singing happened – they wanted the big prize.

Since 2021, the demand for Paris Saint-Germain tickets has tripled, with more and more fans wanting to make it to the iconic stadium to watch the legends in action. To see Messi, Neymar and Mbappe in the front is any football fan’s most extraordinary feat, but the pairing is soon ending.

Messi leaves PSG

Earlier in 2021, the announcement from Messi was a heartbreak for all FC Barcelona fans as he announced his exit with the club getting stuck in financial issues and unable to afford the Argentinian legend.

Days later, the announcement from PSG on Messi made headlines worldwide with a new wave of joy and euphoria.

But, two seasons later, Messi is leaving the club with unfulfilled expectations.

In a press conference on Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Christophe Galtier revealed that Lionel Messi, the star forward, will leave the club. Messi’s contract expires in June; much speculation has been about his future footballing destination.

Messi was widely anticipated to depart from PSG, and Galtier confirmed this news ahead of the team’s season finale against Clermont Foot. “I have had the privilege of coaching the greatest player in football history. This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes, and I hope he receives the warmest of farewells,” Galtier affirmed.

At 35, Messi recently led Argentina to victory in the World Cup held in Qatar and secured the Ligue 1 title for PSG, marking his second consecutive triumph in the French league.

There have been indications of a strained relationship between Messi and PSG, as evidenced by a club-imposed suspension he received last month for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, resulting in a missed training session.

However, Galtier defended the star player, stating that the criticism levelled against him was unwarranted. “Throughout this season, he has been a vital asset to the team, always available. I believe none of the comments or criticisms are justified,” Galtier expressed. “He has consistently been there for the team, and it has been an incredible privilege to accompany him throughout the season.”

During PSG’s recent clinching of their 11th Ligue 1 title, Messi also achieved a personal milestone by scoring his 496th goal in Europe’s top five leagues, surpassing the previous record held by Ronaldo of 495 goals.

Amidst ongoing rumours of a lucrative deal in the Middle East, speculation about Messi’s future continues to swirl. Nonetheless, his representatives have not provided any insights into his career beyond his tenure at PSG.

Sergio Ramos joins Messi

On Friday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced that Sergio Ramos, the veteran former Spain defender, will leave the club at the end of the season, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi. Ramos, 37, joined PSG in 2021 after a highly successful period with Real Madrid.

It felt like the world was healing at that time when Ramos and Messi paired together at PSG. The duo played against each other in one of the most intense rivalries in football history, representing Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Seeing them together was a story written in gold, and it was a delight for every fan with Paris Saint-Germain tickets.

In a statement, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed immense gratitude to Ramos for his two-year tenure with the club. He praised Ramos for his leadership, team spirit, professionalism, and extensive experience at the highest level, considering him a true football legend. Al-Khelaifi stated that it was an honour to have Ramos in Paris and extended well wishes to him for his future endeavours.

Ramos follows Messi, who recently departed from the Parc des Princes, and there are also reports linking Neymar, the Brazilian forward, with a potential departure from the club.

While at PSG, Ramos won the Ligue 1 title twice, participating in 57 games. His contract with the club is set to expire on June 30. Ramos took to social media to express his gratitude and bid farewell to PSG, stating that the following day would mark a special day as he said goodbye to another chapter of his life. He mentioned feeling at home with PSG applauding everyone who supported him purchasing Paris Saint-Germain tickets, the fans, and the city of Paris. He thanked them for two memorable years in which he gave his all and competed in various tournaments.

Ramos and Messi arrived at PSG the same summer, intending to win the UEFA Champions League title. However, PSG was eliminated in the round of 16 in both competition editions.

Neymar & the PSG Dilemma

While Messi’s contract is running out, Neymar has been one of the players that PSG is keen to eliminate this season. With the occasional dissent shown, he has not had the better end of everyone with Paris Saint-Germain tickets, and it is the right move for the Brazilian.

Recent reports suggest Neymar, the Brazilian Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) football player, strongly indicates his desire to join a Premier League club. PSG is reportedly looking for a way to offload Neymar, as the club or the fans no longer cherish him. Additionally, his substantial annual salary of around 36 million euros presents a significant financial obstacle for potential suitors.

Among the Premier League clubs, Manchester United emerges as the most favourable option for Neymar. According to ‘The Sun,’ the Brazilian has informed PSG that he prefers to join United. However, PSG, having paid a record-breaking transfer fee of 222 million euros to Barcelona for Neymar’s services, is willing to let him go with a substantial return.

Nonetheless, Manchester United’s potential acquisition by Qatari owners linked to PSG could facilitate the transfer. Foot Mercato has confirmed the connection between Neymar’s move and the future sale of Manchester United to Qatar, involving Prince Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Neymar has existing contracts with Qatar and Qatari brands, which could facilitate his potential move to Manchester United if the Qataris purchase the club.

It is important to note that these reports are based on speculation and rumours, and no official announcements have been made regarding Neymar’s future club. Transfer situations can be complex and subject to change, so it is advisable to follow official sources for the most accurate information.

Paris Saint-Germain tickets for friendlies are already out for the new season, and with the team set to tour Japan, fans in Japan would have the likes of seeing the all-new PSG team before the tournament kicks off.
