Liverpool and Chelsea interested in Gambia striker Adama Bojang

Liverpool and Chelsea are both keen on Steve Biko FC striker Adama Bojang, reports the Guardian’s Ed Aarons.

The Gambian youth international is also on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers and RB Leipzig.

Bojang, 19, caught the eyes at the just-concluded under-20 World Cup.

Several scouts were at the tournament as expected, and Liverpool and Chelsea were impressed with his performances.

Bojang will cost suitors around €3 million, which would not be a problem for the Reds or Blues.

He scored twice at the under-20 World Cup, bagging a brace in the 2-1 victory over Honduras.

Bojang also notched four goals at the under-20 African Cup of Nations in March, helping his country reach the final.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea will look to bolster their attacking ranks after the disappointing campaigns they had in 2022-23.

However, Bojang is seen as a player for the future, and the Premier League duo want him now given his huge potential.

The teenage sensation could find it difficult to obtain a work permit if he joins a Premier League club.

A loan move elsewhere is expected, which would determine whether he can force his way into the senior team.

Bajong has earned comparisons with Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen as he stands at 6ft 3in.

Nicknamed ‘the Gambian Hurricane’, the youngster has what it takes to hit the ground running in Europe.

He could follow in the footsteps of the Nigerian international and become a force to reckon with on the continent soon.

Liverpool and Chelsea have seen his prospects, but whether both are ready to go all the way and sign him remains to be seen.

Big clubs refused to take the punt on Osimhen years ago, and the 24-year-old has made them regret that decision.

Bajong could become the next big thing to come out of Africa, and the Anfield club and their Stamford Bridge counterpart need to act.
