Arsenal targeting midfield and goalkeeper acquisitions before end of transfer window

Arsenal 2023/24 Season Preview

Despite spending over £200 million so far this summer, Arsenal are still looking to bolster two key areas of their squad.

Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice have all moved to the Emirates Stadium but there could be further additions heading into the final month of the window.

Arsenal are plotting a swoop for Brentford’s David Raya to help provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale despite a relatively impressive campaign from the Englishman last time out.

Ramsdale racked up 14 clean sheets in 38 Premier League games but was culpable on several occasions as he committed two direct errors to goal and twice as many leading to shots.

As Arsenal prepare to mount another title challenge and return to the Champions League next season, the Gunners are attempting to leave no stone unturned with respect to their recruitment.

Declan Rice’s arrival has left Thomas Partey’s future in huge doubt with Arsenal open to selling the Ghana international.

Arsenal signed Jorginho from Chelsea earlier this year, meaning that Mikel Arteta now has three options to work with in the defensive-midfield role.

Partey has been linked with Serie A giants Juventus and several Saudi Arabian outfits but a move is yet to materialise.

Should Arsenal eventually sanction an exit for Partey, Mikel Arteta’s men are expected to be in the market for a new acquisition in the middle of the park.

Romeo Lavia remains of interest, although he is drawing increasingly closer to joining Liverpool, who have already agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old.

A swoop for Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus, who can also serve as a backup to Bukayo Saka, has been mooted with the Ajax man set to leave his current employers.

However, Arsenal will have to fend off competition from Chelsea and Manchester United to land the versatile 22-year-old.
