Good Transfer window for AS Roma, but Mourinho wants more

AS Roma have enjoyed an excellent summer transfer window after making some shrewd signings, but Jose Mourinho wants more.

The summer transfer market in four of Europe’s prominent football leagues – Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 – has remained relatively calm, disappointing many fans anticipating the excitement of these top-tier competitions.

In this landscape, AS Roma emerges as a standout with shrewd signings poised to fortify their squad for the upcoming challenges.

After years of silence, AS Roma found newfound fortune under Jose Mourinho, signing crucial players as they prep for a long season. The fans with AS Roma tickets are delighted.

Houssem Aouar

Houssem Aouar’s arrival marked Roma’s first significant move of the season. The gifted French midfielder, recognized for his technical prowess, creative flair, and remarkable vision, transitioned from his long-standing association with Lyon.

Aouar’s addition addresses a crucial need in Jose Mourinho’s midfield, offering a vital link between the midfield and the attacking front.

This element was conspicuously absent in the team’s previous season. For those AS Roma tickets, the impact from Houssem was seen from the beginning of the season, and it is also learned that he is taking Italian lessons to adapt to the Roma style.

Evan Ndicka

Evan Ndicka’s signing has markedly elevated Roma’s defensive capabilities. The young central defender, born in France, boasts physicality, defensive acumen, and calm ball-control attributes. Ndicka’s transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt enhances the team’s robust defensive foundation, featuring stalwarts like Chris Smalling and Gianluca Mancini.

Notably, Ndicka’s left-footed proficiency introduces a new dimension, aligning with Mourinho’s strategic shift to a back-three formation mid-season in the previous campaign.

Rasmus Kristensen

Rasmus Kristensen, the latest addition to the Roma roster, solidifies the team’s right-back position. The 26-year-old Danish international finalized his move from Leeds United, offering a blend of speed, defensive resilience, and attacking contributions. Kristensen’s performance of three goals and one assist in 26 league appearances last season underscores his ability to serve as a dependable alternative to Zeki Celik on the right flank.

For Roma, Rasmus has already won the hearts of the fans with AS Roma tickets, with his performances on and off the field.

Asked about the team and the players, Kristensen was full of praise.

“Scamacca? I believe he’s a remarkable player,” Kristensen expressed to La Gazzetta dello Sport in reference to Roma’s pursuit of West Ham’s Italian forward. “I vividly recall the goal he netted against [Leeds] in the past season. He projects the image of a potent striker for various reasons.”

“From my standpoint, spending ample time with my newfound teammates is undeniably beneficial. It allowed me to cultivate a sense of belonging within this team, one that swiftly embraced me as part of their family from the outset. The warmth and acceptance I received from everyone, starting on day one, have been truly remarkable. Thus, I can only articulate positive sentiments about my experience here thus far.”

Mourinho urges more Transfers

Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants his side to push for more signings before the window closes. The team already has five signings completed this season, but he wants more. And he isn’t wrong in demanding this.

In his pre-Salernitana conference, the Special One commended Roma’s adherence to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations but emphasized the need for further acquisitions.

Leandro Paredes, Renato Sanches, Evan Ndicka, Houssem Aouar, and Rasmus Kristensen have all been welcomed into the Roma fold.

Their acquisitions have come at a relatively low cost of €3.5 million, considering today’s inflated transfer market where other clubs are spending staggering sums.

The fans with AS Roma tickets also see this season as one where they could push gears to get to the top.

Acknowledging the reality of the situation, Mourinho admitted that while the club’s financial constraints have played a role, significant progress has been made.

“Much has been achieved and quite competently. The club managed to generate €30 million under significant pressure, which was no easy feat. Given the legal and financial limitations, it was challenging to do better in the current circumstances,” the Roma boss Gianluca Di Marzio relayed.

Mourinho’s positive perspective is meant to boost the team’s morale, mainly as the new season commences without a new striker in place. Despite ongoing efforts to secure a replacement for Tammy Abraham, the club has yet to succeed.

While admitting that complete satisfaction is yet to be attained, Mourinho remains hopeful about the club’s potential to make significant signings. As the season takes off, he aims to stay positive to give his players the encouragement they need. Confident in the club’s capabilities, Mourinho anticipates they will ultimately secure the necessary signings.

Duava Zapta deal Update

Roma has arranged a meeting with Atalanta to finalize the Duvan Zapata deal, which experienced a slowdown due to the commencement of the new season. Despite the setback of losing El Bilal Touré to a significant thigh injury, Atalanta remains open to parting ways with Zapata if their conditions are met, as reported by Corriere dello Sport.

Scheduled for Monday, the meeting aims to solidify the transfer details. Zapata, who played the first half against Sassuolo, has been a critical figure for Atalanta. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini indicated that he respects Zapata’s choice regarding his future, emphasizing the significance of the player’s contributions.

Roma and Atalanta have engaged in productive negotiations for a permanent transfer of Zapata. The deal will involve a fee of €6 million, supplemented by add-ons. If finalized, Zapata is expected to commit to a three-year contract and receive an annual salary of €3 million, including bonuses.

In a strategic decision, Roma has opted to heed Santos’ request to secure Marco Leonardo’s signature in January. Nevertheless, the club remains open to bolstering their attacking options if Ola Solbakken is transferred out, provided a suitable and cost-effective replacement is found.
