Chelsea secured a 3-0 victory over Luton Town on Friday night, with a brace from Raheem Sterling and a goal from summer signing Nicolas Jackson getting the job done for the Blues and handing them their first Premier League win of 2023-24 following a 1-1 draw with Liverpool and last weekend’s 3-1 loss to West Ham United.
Malo Gusto provided both assists for Sterling’s goals but the other full-back Ben Chilwell missed a chance to double Chelsea’s lead some minutes into the second-half, opting to pass instead of attempting to score when left with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Luckily for the hosts, the miss did not prove costly as Sterling grabbed his second goal of the night shortly afterwards, but Jamie Carragher was far from pleased with Chilwell following the miss, slamming him for it on Sky Sports.
“I can’t believe what I’ve seen from Chilwell,” the former Liverpool star said.
“It’s awful. It really is. Such poor decision making.”

Chilwell saw the funny side after the game and has promised to work on his shooting after taking to Twitter/X to react to the result.
Absolute honour to lead the boys out tonight at the bridge 💙
Ps. Shooting practice for me tomorrow 🥴🤣 pic.twitter.com/oa2zdf46Kk

Chelsea play AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup before taking on Nottingham Forest next Saturday in their last Premier League game before the international break.
Sterling, Jackson and Gusto were in fine form tonight and will hope to keep putting in a similar performance for the rest of the campaign.
The Blues will look to challenge for major silverware this season after their disappointing campaign last term, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will need to deliver the goods having spent around £370 million on nine first-team players so far this summer.
The Argentine is looking to bring in one more attacker before the summer transfer window shuts with France international forward Christopher Nkunku a long-term injury absentee as a result of a knock he sustained in pre-season.
