Liverpool could fix their current squad by signing £75m duo

Liverpool have had a mixed run of fortunes in the summer transfer window. They started off brilliantly with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but have since missed out on key targets to Chelsea.

The Merseyside giants made bids for both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but the Blues have won the race to sign the duo. The latter recently changed his stance after the west London side entered the race for his services.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now need to explore the transfer market for a new defensive midfielder. In our opinion, the Reds should consider an approach for Ibrahim Sangare from PSV Eindhoven in the coming days.

The Ivory Coast international has been a key player for the Eredivisie outfit, but he is free to head for the exit door this summer if any interested club is willing to meet the £32 million release clause present in his contract.

Liverpool are one of his admirers, as per ESPN.nl. He would be a no-brainer signing in our view. The 25-year-old would be a perfect acquisition to fill the void left by Fabinho with his strong defensive attributes from midfield.

Last season, Sangare completed 44 passes per league game. He won a stunning 2.3 tackles and 5.8 duels per outing. He also completed 77 per cent of his dribbles, making nearly two interceptions on average.

Aside from Sangare, the Reds have been handed an advantage in the pursuit of Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have been following the Frenchman’s contract situation since the beginning of the summer, and they have been handed a huge boost with United unlikely to sign him with Harry Maguire opting to stay put.

Bayern currently want a maximum fee of around £43m for the World Cup winner. It is well within the affordability range of the Reds, who could do with another versatile defensive option in their squad.

Pavard can play in central defence or on the right side of the backline. The Frenchman is in the prime of his career at 27 and would perfectly suit the manager with his strong distribution and defensive skills.

He completed 90 per cent of his passes in the Bundesliga last campaign. The former Stuttgart man also won 2.3 tackles and five duels per game alongside 2.5 clearances. He would be another shrewd signing.

In our view, Liverpool could fix their issues in the current squad with the acquisition of the duo for around £75m.
