Nottingham Forest are reportedly keen to sign Matheus Nascimento this summer.
However, the Sun claim that Forest might have to wait until January before they can bring the 19-year-old to the City Ground, as he chases down the Brazilian Serie A title with Botafogo.
Botafogo are currently sitting top of the table in Brazil after 20 games played, with an 11 point advantage over second placed Palmeiras.
The Brazilian football season finishes in December, and with a third Serie A title within touching distance, it’s no surprise that Botafogo want to keep Nascimento around for the next few months.
That will represent somewhat of a problem for Forest though…
Nottingham Forest want to sign £15m Brazilian Matheus Nascimento but face a very big problem indeed
The Sun reckon that the talented teenage forward is wanted by Forest in a £15 million deal, but Steve Cooper probably won’t be able to bring him to the City Ground until January.
That’s a real shame because Nascimento would undoubtedly make a big impact for Forest if he moved to the East Midlands this summer.
He is a striker by trade but can also operate in the number 10 position if need be. He has bagged 11 goals in 80 games for Botafogo – a very decent return for someone so young.
Matheus Nascimento certainly has the ability and potential to go on and be a big hit with Nottingham Forest. It seems as though the Premier League club will have to be patient in their pursuit of his signature though.
