Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Sabah, Villa made a €3 million (£2.5 million) loan offer for the 24-year-old, with the option to buy him for €27 million (£23 million) including bonuses next summer.
However, the Turkish giants rejected that offer because they wanted the purchase option to actually be an obligation and Aston Villa have now apparently given into to Galatasaray’s demands.
Unai Emery got a real wake up call on Saturday when his side were thumped 5-1 by Newcastle. The need for more new arrivals was clear to see.
And it seems as though the Spaniard is not hanging around with getting his business done before the summer transfer window slams shut…
Aston Villa agree deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo on loan with £23m obligation to buy
Sabah are claiming that Villa will sign the Italy international on a season long loan, and will purchase him on a permanent deal next summer for £23 million.
The Villans will pay Galatasaray a £2.5 million loan fee to take the 24-year-old attacking midfielder on loan this season.
Nicolo Zaniolo will be a fine addition for Aston Villa. He can play on the wing as well as the number 10 position and has all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Zaniolo is big and strong and is a real threat inside the final third. Villa’s need for defensive reinforcements is obvious to see but the attacking midfield department needs addressing just as urgently. And if Emery does bring the Galatasaray ace to Villa Park, it will be a great move by the Spaniard.
