Tottenham appear to have hit a dead end in their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport (print edition August 15th, page 11), the 30-year-old Chelsea centre-forward will reject a move to Tottenham because he only wants to join Juventus in the summer transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou desperately needs to get a top-class striker through the door before the transfer window slams shut, with Harry Kane having left to join Bayern Munich.
Lukaku is apparently a key target for the Spurs boss, according to the likes of Alfredo Pedulla.
However, it seems as though the Belgian will not be joining Tottenham this summer…
Potential Kane replacement is set to snub £40 million Tottenham move
Corriere dello Sport reckon that Lukaku only has one club in mind this summer – Juventus. And as a result, he will snub a potential move to Spurs.
So it’s back to the drawing board for Ange it seems.
Chelsea are said to want around £40 million for Lukaku (Daily Mail). Despite the 30-year-old’s struggles with Chelsea and Manchester in the Premier League, he would still be able to do a job for Tottenham.
Lukaku’s physical profile is exactly what Spurs need up front this season – someone who can hold up the ball and cause problems for opposing defenders.
With Romelu Lukaku reportedly desperate for a move to Juventus though, he won’t be joining Tottenham this summer. Quite who the North London outfit will sign to replace Harry Kane remains very much up in the air right now.
