Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer.
According to football journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are in the strongest position to win the race for the 27-year-old’s signature this summer, and the player himself wants to move to Old Trafford.
Man United boss Erik ten Hag needs to sign a new centre-back this summer, with the Dutchman on the hunt for someone to provide proper competition and cover for Raphael Varane.
Now, the Frenchman is an attacking right-back by trade but he has openly admitted that centre-back is his best position, and that’s where he wants to play going forward.
With that in mind, a move to Old Trafford for Pavard this summer would certainly make sense…
Champions League winner Benjamin Pavard reportedly very keen to join Manchester United
German journalist Florian Plettenberg reckons that the Bayern Munich star could very well be Old Trafford bound this summer in a €30 million (£26 million) deal:
ℹ️ ManUtd, at this stage the favorite in the poker for Benjamin #Pavard!
➡️ Pavard can really imagine to join #MUFC as Ten Hag wants him
➡️ Concrete talks are ongoing and positive

Pavard has won four league titles, a German Cup and the Champions League during his time with Bayern Munich. He also held aloft the World Cup trophy with France back in 2018. So there aren’t many players in the game who have won more than the Frenchman.
During his time with Stuttgart, he was described as a ‘spectacular’ player by the Bundesliga’s official website. And they’re spot on with that assessment. When he’s on, he is one of the very best defenders in the world.
Benjamin Pavard would provide Manchester United boss Ten Hag with plenty of options at the back. We’ve already mentioned that he wants to playa s a central defender but he can obviously operate as a right-back and a right wing-back as well. For just £26 million, Man United really can’t go wrong by signing him this summer.
