Gary Neville delivers Everton relegation verdict

Gary Neville has suggested that Sean Dyche can keep Everton up in the Premier League, but not with a point deduction.

The Toffees flirted with relegation in the past two seasons, but they have shown signs of improvement, albeit marginal, under Dyche this season.

However, they could face a massive 12-point deduction, and Neville feels that the Toffees won’t be able to recover from that blow if that happens.

Taking on questions from the fans on Twitter, Neville replied – “Yes but not with a points deduction”, when asked if Dyche will keep Everton up.

Spot on

The Toffees are 16th in the Premier League table with only seven points on board from nine games. If they are deducted 12 points, it will take them to -5, and it will become next to impossible for them to get out of the relegation zone.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the Toffees face a 12-point deduction in its case against them for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

They could also face the threat of severe sanctions if they lose their fight against allegedly breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations. At the moment, their case is being heard by an independent commission after they recorded a heavy loss of £304m over a three-year period.

The clubs are permitted to amount to £105 million set out by the Premier League, and chances are high that Everton will lose their case. It comes as a big surprise that Manchester City who had been already charged with breaching 115 regulations over 14 seasons from 2009/10 to last season, are still not facing any threat of a point deduction.

Gary is absolutely spot on here. Dyche has the caliber to steer Everton to Premier League safety but he won’t be able to do if the Toffees suffer a massive 12-point deduction.
