Liverpool eyeing Antonio Silva & Goncalo Inacio

Liverpool could offer stiff competition to Manchester United in the race to sign Portuguese duo Antonio Silva and Goncalo Inacio next summer, as per Record.

The Merseyside giants have had a good start to the Premier League campaign and they are currently fourth in the standings with 17 points.

However, there is still room for improvement defensively for the Reds. They have been guilty of conceding early and need to shore up their central defence.

According to today’s edition of Record, the Reds are eyeing moves for Silva and Inacio and they could be prepared to compete with United for the duo.

Silva and Inacio would be brilliant signings

Silva made his senior debut for Benfica in September 2022. He has since established himself as a key starter for the Primeira outfit and is now a regular with Portugal too.

The 19-year-old is strong with the ball at his feet, but has equally impressed with his tackling, ability to clear his lines and concentration in and around his box.

Inacio has similar qualities. He is not a tough tackler as Silva, but has caught the eye with his good positioning and the knack of carrying the ball forward from defence.

Liverpool had an overhaul of their midfield last summer, and we won’t be surprised if they carry out the same operation with their central defence ahead of next season.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez would be the most likely candidates to head for the exit door if the Merseyside giants were to sign both Silva and Inacio in the summer of 2024.

It won’t be easy to sign them. Silva and Inacio have release clauses worth €120 million and €60 million and may not be available for anything less after recently signing new deals.
