The Premier League is back after a brief hiatus, and Liverpool are in action on Saturday lunchtime when they take on Everton in the Merseyside derby clash at Anfield.
The Reds have made a strong start to the season and they will be looking to close the gap at the top with a win here. Liverpool have dominated the fixture in recent years, but teams tend to raise their game in derby matches.
Jurgen Klopp is likely to be without left-back Andy Robertson who has picked up an injury whilst on international duty. He looked in severe pain after dislocating his shoulder and could be out for at least 8-10 weeks.
Alisson has been superb for the Reds this season and he is certain to continue in goal. Virgil van Dijk – who scored for the Netherlands during the international break – will start at the back and Klopp could bring in Ibrahima Konate in place of Joel Matip.
This is also a big chance for Kostas Tsimikas to show his quality and impress the German boss. He has made only one substitute appearance in the Premier League but now is the time for him to step up.
Curtis Jones is still suspended which means the door could open for Ryan Gravenberch to start alongside Alexis McAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield.
Darwin Nunez complained about cramps on international duty, leaving Klopp short of options with Cody Gakpo still not fit yet.
Diogo Jota will return to the side after facing a one-match ban, and he will join Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz up front.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Diaz, Jota, Salah.
