West Ham and Crystal Palace battle for Willian Pacho

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are both interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Willian Pacho, according to reliable transfer expert Dean Jones.

Writing for TEAMtalk, Jones claims that Everton are also keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old Ecuadorian international who is being tipped for an ‘exciting’ future.

Frankfurt have one of the best defensive records in Germany and also in Europe this season, conceding just five goals from seven matches, and Pacho has played a big role in it.

His performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, but Frankfurt – who signed him as a replacement for Evan Ndicka – are in no mood to let him go.

He joined Frankfurt for £8 million from Royal Antwerp last year and quickly has grown into one of the key players for the German club. They now value him around £35m.

Good move?

Palace are checking out the German market as part of their long-term plans to replace Marc Guehi.

The England international is happy at Selhurst Park, but big Premier League clubs have set their sights on signing him.

While the Eagles are reluctant to lose their prized asset, they must prepare for every situation.

Heavyweight Premier League clubs won’t hesitate to throw out big money for Guehi and the Eagles could be powerless to stop him from leaving. In that case, Pacho could be an ideal replacement for him.

West Ham boss David Moyes is also on the lookout for a new defender. The Hammers have been linked with a move once again for Harry Maguire, but they could also look to invest heavily in young talents like Pacho.

Everton are also in the mix but they could struggle to match his asking price given their financial troubles.
