Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, making it three consecutive loss for the Lilywhites.
Despite the loss, there were some standout performances from Tottenham players as they were unlucky to get a point despite creating many chances.
Giovani Lo Celso was among the top performers in the match as he scored and created a barrage of chances in the match.
Reacting to his spirited performance, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou praised the performance of the 27-year-old.
When asked if Lo Celso looks like a player who can come in and play games regularly because the coach will need him in the next few weeks, he stated, as quoted by Football London:
“Yeah, I thought Gio did really well today in the role we had him.
“He was creative and scored a good goal. He was always threatening and he worked hard. He hasn’t played a lot of football.
“The reality of it is that we’re not going to get too many back. We’ll get Biss back for next week but we might have lost Bentancur. We only had six or seven on the bench so everyone who is here at the moment is going to have to play a part”.
More chances
With James Maddison out, there’s a possibility that Lo Celso will continue to feature in more matches for Tottenham until the England international returns.
Tottenham will make the trip to Manchester to face defending champions, Manchester City in what will be a make-or-break clash in Spurs’ quest for the league title.
After a bright start to the season, where Spurs led the table after 10 games, they have dropped to fifth in the league, behind Villa.
They have a good squad but injuries are causing concerns at the moment. Spurs need to find a way to get back to winning ways. What has been really frustrating is that they have taken leads in their previous games and ended up losing in all three of them.
