Bologna keen to sign Tottenham forward Alejo Veliz

Italian club Bologna are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Veliz in the January transfer window, as per Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentine striker joined Spurs in the summer transfer window but he has barely featured. He is yet to make a start in the Premier League and has only managed three substitute appearances.

The 20-year-old is seen as a highly-rated talent, and Adrian Dezotti, his former coach hailed him as “fearsome” during a recent interview with The Athletic.

Bologna previously wanted to sign Veliz and they are now looking to bring him to Italy again in January, but only on loan. Spurs paid around £13m for his signature, and they believe he has the potential to make an impact for the senior side.

Should Spurs send him out on loan?

Veliz is currently plying trade in the reserve team and making strides with the Premier League 2 side. He has the potential, no doubt, but he is nowhere near to be playing senior football week in and week out.

Tottenham are not playing in any European competition either where Ange Postecoglou could have given him some game time. If Spurs sign any forward or a striker in the January window, it makes sense to send the youngster out on loan.

However, after the injury to Micky van de Ven, Spurs could shift their attention towards signing a defender in January. In that case, they may have to postpone their plans of bolstering their attacking department.

In case of further injury crisis, Veliz could be relied upon, but there could be a temptation from Spurs to send him out on loan where he can get regular games.
