Aston Villa have secured a huge win after they came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 away from home.
On an emotional day, where they remembered former player and manager Terry Venables, Unai Emery’s side produced an “outstanding” performance as they moved into the top four for the first time this season.
Spurs, on the other hand, have suffered three defeats in a row, and they have dropped to fifth in the league table.
Clinton Morrison, while commentating on the game for BBC Radio Live 5, has hailed the win as “massive” for Villa.
“It’s a massive result. They played Tottenham at the right time with all the injuries Tottenham have had but saying that I thought Aston Villa were outstanding,” said Morrison.
Massive
Villa have been tremendous under Unai Emery and they deserve a lot of praise. They are two points off the top and surely they must be thinking of a challenge for the title. At least, they can put up a strong fight.
Giovani lo Celso’s deflected opener got the familiar feeling back at north London once again, but Villa responded with goals from Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins.
Tottenham were top of the Premier League table after their first 10 games, but they are under a lot of pressure now. With several key players missing through injuries, Ange Postecoglou will have to find a way to get back to winning ways.
Watkins has been brilliant once again and he netted his 12th goal of the season so far.
