Sean Dyche has confirmed that Everton midfielder Amadou Onana will not play against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Toffees will play host to Erik Ten Hag’s side this week at Goodison Park after the international break. Dyche has revealed that Seamus Coleman has trained well this week but the likes of Andre Gomes and Dele Alli are still missing.
Onana still has a sore calf and he won’t be ready for this game. The 22-year-old is a key midfielder for Everton, but Dyche will hope that other players will step up in his absence.
“Dyche says Amadou Onana still has a sore calf and likely will not be ready to faCe Manchester United. Seamus Coleman has been training well at Finch Farm,” wrote Liverpool Echo.
“Andre Gomes and Dele are both training on the grass but will need more time before making a return.”
Huge blow
The major talking point ahead of this game is obviously the 10-point deduction which leaves the Toffees reeling at the relegation zone.
Under Dyche, Everton have looked solid in recent weeks, and they have picked up some crucial wins.
They have won three in their last four games, drawing the other one in all competitions, and are heading into this game on the back of a 3-2 win against Crystal Palace.
Dyche has shared his frustration with the decision but he can’t do anything now. It is up to the players to pick up more wins and get out of the drop zone at the earliest.
They have shown signs of improvement in recent months, but it will require a massive effort from all the players from here on to save the club from going down.
