Newcastle United handed Manchester United a 3-0 drubbing at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could not believe it.
The Magpies put the Red Devils to the sword after goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock, and the hosts had no reply for them.
Man United suffered a 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday, and they were looking to bounce back against Newcastle this evening.
However, the Magpies had other ideas, and despite losing Matt Ritchie to an injury after five minutes, they opened the scoring through substitute Almiron in the 28th minute.
Hall doubled their lead eight minutes later before Willock put the game beyond the reach of the Red Devils in the 60th minute to ensure Newcastle booked a place in the quarter-finals.
Liverpool also advanced to the next round following a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium, and Klopp could not believe his eyes when he saw the result of the game between Newcastle and Man United before his post-match press conference.

Newcastle were the better side against a pitiful Man United, and Eddie Howe’s men have piled further pressure on Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag.
His side have now lost eight games across all competitions so far in 2023-24, and things are unlikely to get better on the pitch for the Old Trafford club from the look of things.
On the other hand, Newcastle have continued their fine form after recovering from a woeful start to 2023-24 which saw them lose three of their opening four Premier League games, and they will be full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s league game against Arsenal.
The Gunners are unbeaten in the Premier League this term, with seven wins and three draws to their name, but they have lost to RC Lens in the Champions League and were dumped out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Wednesday night, which would encourage the Magpies ahead of the weekend clash.
