Newcastle managed a 1-1 draw in the Champions League Group F match on Tuesday night (28 November) and are still in contention to progress to the knock-out stages.
Kylian Mbappe scored a controversial late penalty as PSG denied the Magpies an important win. Michael Owen took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his reaction.
The popular football pundit has described it as “heartbreaking”, adding that it was a very good performance. Owen adds that never in a million years, it was a penalty.
The spot-kick was awarded after review by the video assistant referee. It was a harsh decision with referee Szymon Marciniak deciding that Tino Livramento had handled the ball inside the box when blocking a cross.
Owen says that there is a lack of consistency in the handball rule at the moment.

Knock-out hopes
The Magpies were heading for a hugely impressive win after Aleksander Isak struck in the first half.
Eddie Howe’s side defended resolutely with Nick Pope making a superb save from close range to deny Bradley Barcola and Mbappe.
Their resolve was broken in the end when PSG were awarded the penalty deep in the stoppage time, from which Mbappe made no mistake.
Newcastle are third in the group with five points, two points behind PSG. They have to win their final game and hope that PSG lose at the same time to have any chance of progressing through to the next round.
