Mikel Arteta shares Arsenal injury update ahead of Burnley clash

Four issues Mikel Arteta must address at Arsenal

Arsenal will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Burnley on Saturday (11 November) at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are heading into this game on the back of a 2-0 victory against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United in the Premier League last week.

Arteta has suggested that he could miss some of his key players for this game through injuries, and one of them could be Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard has missed the last two games for the Gunners and Arteta has suggested that the 24-year-old is “trying everything” to be fit for the game against the Clarets.

The Gunners boss hasn’t ruled him out for this game, saying it’s a “possibility” that he could feature.

“Still racing. He’s trying everything that he can. Let’s see. It’s a possibility,” said Arteta, as quoted by Football London.

Touch and go

The victory against Sevilla will give lots of confidence to the side, but it’s the Premier League that matters at the moment. The title race is getting intense with Tottenham and Liverpool are in the mix along with Manchester City.

The Gunners could miss a host of players for this game. Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber are definitely out. Emile Smith-Rowe is also a long-term absentee.

Bukayo Saka picked up an injury in the midweek fixture and he looked in a lot of pain. There is a high chance that he could miss out. The same can be said about Takehiro Tomiyasu and Edward Nketiah, both need to pass a late fitness test.

Arteta previously stated that he would take a cautious approach towards Gabriel Jesus so he could be out as well.
