Celtic earned a comfortable 6-0 win against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday at Parkhead.
The Bhoys forward Kyogo Furuhashi scored the second goal of the game but he was taken off after a head injury following an aerial challenge from Slobodan Rubezic.
BBC Sport journalist, Tom English, reacted to a video clip, and branded the challenge on X, as “disgraceful”, saying that it is a red card even in rugby games, never mind in football.
He was utterly surprised to find that Sky Sports didn’t take up the matter seriously and suggested that there was no concussion.
In a separate post on X, he said that the head-on-head challenge is dangerous in any sport and brain injuries are horrifying. The referee didn’t send him off even after checking with VAR has been heavily criticised, and rightly so.

Poor decision
The BBC journalist is absolutely spot on here. The safety of the players holds paramount interest and such types of challenges should be punished immediately.
It’s a dangerous challenge and it’s beyond belief that Rubezic stayed on the pitch.
After Daizen Maeda got injured, it would have been a massive blow for Celtic had Kyogo picked up a nasty injury too.
Celtic suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in their Champions League game in midweek. Brendan Rodgers wanted to see a reaction from his side, and Celtic delivered and showed no signs of a European hangover.
