UK newspaper drools over Everton defender Nathan Patterson

Everton defender Nathan Patterson was impressive for Scotland, as Scotland earned a 3-3 draw against Norway at Hampden Park (19 November) and ended their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign on a high note.

The right-back started the game against Norway and produced a “brilliant” performance. UK newspaper, Daily Record (20 November, page 42) hailed his impact as “dangerous” and gave him a 7/10 rating.

Patterson also impressed in the previous game for Scotland and received rave reviews.

“Unlucky as opener clipped off shin. Brilliant block denied Donnum. Drove forward, deliveries were dangerous,” wrote Daily Record.

Steve Clarke’s side had already secured their place in Germany next summer but they will have to settle for a second spot behind Spain who defeated Georgia.

John McGinn and Stuart Armstrong scored for Scotland while Leo Ostigard scored an own goal in the first half.

Big time ahead

Sean Dyche will be hoping that Patterson will continue his impressive form when he returns to the club after the international break.

Everton have suffered a massive blow last week after it was confirmed that they will be docked 10 points for breaching the Financial Fair Play rules. As a result, the Toffees find themselves in the relegation zone at the moment and they have a herculean task at hand to survive this season.

Under Dyche, the Toffees have shown great fighting spirit in recent games, but this will come as a dagger blow for them.

Patterson has been really impressive for the Toffees, but his performance for Scotland has been even better. He just needs to deliver consistently now.
