Arsenal are interested in Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface amid Gabriel Jesus’ dwindling goalscoring concerns, according to CBS Sports.
The 23-year-old has been in impeccable form since he arrived from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer, recording 10 goals in 16 Bundesliga appearances and 16 goals in 23 matches across all competitions this season.
His performances for Die Schwarzroten has put him on the radar of Arsenal who are looking for a lethal finisher amid goalscoring problems among the club’s centre-forwards this season. CBS Sports also reports that along with Boniface, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are all in Arsenal’s sight.
A transfer for Boniface is unlikely this winter, as Xabi Will need his best players to aid a surprise title charge over Bayern Munich this season.
Boniface has a contract at BayArena that runs until June 2028.
All-round attacker
Boniface is a tirelessly industrious and technically adept striker who excels in evading opponents with nimble pirouettes, fending off challenges, and orchestrating well-timed shots. His all-encompassing skill set includes deft maneuvering, impressive pace, aerial dominance, and robust ball-carrying abilities, rendering him a comprehensive striker.
With unwavering confidence and rapid decision-making, he seamlessly drops deep to collaborate with teammates, crafting golden opportunities in the critical final third of the pitch while also showing incredible finishing when he is on the receiving end of created chances from his teammates.
In a remarkable achievement, Boniface joined an elite group, becoming only the second player, following Erling Haaland in January 2020, to clinch both the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month accolades simultaneously for August 2023.
His playing style draws favorable comparisons to Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, embodying the traits of an all-encompassing center forward. Possessing proficiency with both feet, Boniface showcases astute movement, robust dribbling skills, and the capacity to outpace defenders with impressive speed and acceleration. Notably, his aerial prowess serves as yet another formidable asset in his arsenal.
The Nigeria International possesses qualities of a complete striker who will greatly fit into Mikel Arteta’s side, and provide the much-needed goalscoring prowess the Gunners have lacked in the past few seasons.
