Celtic have suffered two defeats in a row after they lost 2-0 against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (16 December).
It was the first victory for Hearts at Celtic Park since 2009 with goals coming from Lawrence Shankland and Stephen Kingsley.
The Bhoys were below par throughout the game and apart from Luis Palma’s effort, they couldn’t tear up the Heart’s defence at home.
Journalist Julian Taylor who works for Belfast Telegraph shared on X that Celtic fans chanted “sack the board” during the game. There was a mutinous atmosphere at Celtic Park and the fans were clearly not happy with how the club is being run at the moment.
He says that there were “heated exchanges” between fans and those in the executive seats, and it was “crazy stuff” during the game.
“78 minutes gone at Celtic Park. ‘Sack the board’ – mutinous atmosphere brewing here. Heated exchanges between fans and those in the executive seats. Celtic, meanwhile, still toiling. Crazy stuff. Hearts still 2-0 up,” wrote Taylor on X.
Not good enough
Celtic are still leading the Scottish Premier League table by five points above Rangers who have now two games in hand.
If Rangers win those, they will be a point ahead of the Bhoys, and that will be remarkable given how poor they were at the start of the season.
The Hoops have been pathetic in the Champions League, although they picked up a home win in their final game against Feyenoord. They were outclassed away from home in Europe, and they have struggled to win games consistently this season.
The signings made in the summer transfer window are questionable with Rodgers doesn’t seem to trust most of them. Having said that, it is the manager’s responsibility to get the best out of his players, and at the moment, Celtic are not doing enough to win games.
