Chris Sutton has showered praise on Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley after he scored a stunning goal against St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday (3 December).
The 23-year-old scored a spectacular goal in the second half as Celtic staged a dramatic comeback to seal a 3-1 win after going a goal down in the first half.
Sky Sports shared O’Riley’s goal on X, to which Sutton wrote: “Yes Sensational this is.”

Great comeback
Celtic suffered a heartbreak in midweek as they lost 2-0 against Lazio in Rome in the Champions League. They are out of the European competition, and all the Hoops can do now is focus on the domestic tournaments.
Brendan Rodgers’ side has already taken a sizeable lead at the top of the table. However, in Scottish football, teams tend to lose points when pressure is applied.
Celtic were lethargic in the first half and St Johnston deservedly took the lead at the break. In the second half, the Bhoys came back strongly and could have added more goals to the scorecard.
Skipper Callum McGregor led the way with a fantastic equaliser and once they got the goal, the visitors reached a new level. O’Riley scored from 20 yards out and it could easily be considered as one of the goals of the season.
Mikey Johnston was outstanding throughout the game, and Sutton has praised him heavily as well. In the end, James Forrest added another one as Celtic put the icing on the cake.
However, this goal deserves a special mention, and Sutton rightly describes it as sensational.
