Celtic are lining up a move for Estoril defender Tiago Araujo in the January transfer window, according to Stephen McGowan.
The Scottish Daily Mail Chief Football Writer said on PLZ Soccer that the 22-year-old left-back is a “strong possibility” for the Bhoys in the January window.
“I think the Portuguese guy, Tiago Araujo, plays for Estoril, former Benfica, is a strong possibility for Celtic in January,” said McGowan.
Brendan Rodgers has said time and again that Celtic should be looking to sign quality players to compete with the big boys in Europe.
Tiago looks like a cracking young player who didn’t quite make the senior grade at Benfica, but played a lot of games for the U-21 side. He joined Arouca on loan in 2021-22 where he made 16 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He has been a regular for Estoril. He has made 26 appearances for them in all competitions and has a goal to his name.
Celtic have Greg Taylor and Alexandro Barnebei as two left-backs, but the later has only made three appearances in the Scottish Premiership only.

Much needed
Rodgers will be pleased to find that Celtic have finally broken their Champions League hoodoo after picking up their first win at home in 10 years when they defeated Feyenoord 2-1 on Wednesday night at Celtic Park.
While Celtic are still a strong force in Scotland, Rodgers can hardly relax as Rangers are breathing down their neck. Under Phillippe Clement, they are now a strong force and are looking to close the gap.
Rodgers will be looking to free up the space by offloading fringe and unwanted players in the upcoming windows. Adding a new left-back is his top priority, and it seems Araujo could move to Glasgow at some point next month.
