Liverpool injury news: Alexis Mac Allister shares positive update

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister picked up a knee injury during the Reds’ 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night (6 December).

Jurgen Klopp said after the match that it was a “shame” to lose him through injury but he was hopeful that it wasn’t serious.

Mac Allister has now posted an update on Instagram where he said that “everything is fine”, and that he hopes to bounce “back soon”.

The 24-year-old picked up a knee injury following a bad tackle and needed a few stitches. He continued playing until the hour mark, and was later replaced by Curtis Jones.

“Everything’s fine. I got a few stitches, but I’ll bounce back soon. We keep going. Come on Liverpool,” wrote Mac Allister on Instagram.

Klopp will be thrilled

Klopp will be thrilled to hear that Mac Allister’s injury is not serious and that the midfielder himself hopes to return shortly. In all probability, he will miss the weekend’s game against Crystal Palace, as Klopp will not prefer to take extra risks.

The German boss has plenty of options at his disposal and he can afford to give Mac Allister proper rest to heal the injury. Jones is a natural replacement while Ryan Gravenberch can be an option as well.

The former Brighton midfielder has become an influential member of the side and he scored a spectacular goal against Fulham last week.

Liverpool are already losing a host of key players at the moment. Andy Roberton is a long-term absentee while Klopp confirmed after the game yesterday that Joel Matip has ruptured his ACL and he is unlikely to take any part this season.

The likes of Thiago Alcantara and Digo Jota are also injured at the moment. Thiago hasn’t played a single game this season and chances are high that he could be sold in January.
