Liverpool keep close eye on Momodou Sonko

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Swedish attacking talent Momodou Sonko, according to a report from Expressen.

The 18-year-old has quickly established himself as a key player for  BK Häcken, where he has managed 11 goals and seven assists from 35 games this year.

The Reds have sent scouts to watch Sonko who can play at both flanks with ease. Along with Liverpool, the likes of Barcelona and RB Leipzig have also registered an interest in the young talent.

The youngster has a contract at the club until 2025, and it has been reported that Häcken are aiming to get a record fee for Sonko. They value him at around £6.8m to £7.6m, which should be well within Liverpool’s budget.

It’s not clear from the report whether Häcken would be willing to sell their prized asset in January, but Liverpool can try to present a good offer to lure him away.

Building for the future

Jurgen Klopp will forever remain a legendary figure at the club after winning one Premier League title and a Champions League trophy. But his job is not finished yet.

The German’s biggest task will be to rebuild the squad and bring in more young talents at the club who can go on to play for the senior team for years to come.

Sonko looks like a cracking young talent, and it will be interesting to see if the Reds make a move to sign him, either in January or next summer.

The Reds have moved to the top of the Premier League table at the moment, but critics are not yet convinced whether they can go on to lift the trophy in the end.

Liverpool will face Manchester United and Arsenal in their next two fixtures and results from these two games will probably give some indication whether they can really shift gears.
