Liverpool pick up all three points to keep pressure on Arsenal at the top after beating Sheffield United 2-0 at the Bramall Lane on Wednesday night (6 December).
Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai earned Jurgen Klopp’s side a comfortable victory in the end, but they were far from their best.
Former Liverpool player, Luis Garcia took to X to share his instant reaction. Garcia says that it’s a “big” three points for the Reds, and while it was not pretty to watch all the time, but the Reds just did enough to grind out a result.
He has picked French defender Ibrahima Konate as his man of the match. The French defender was immense during the game, and alongside Van Dijk played a big part as the Reds kept a clean sheet as well.
Garcia wrote on X: “Big 3 points. SHU 0 v 2 LFC on a difficult visit to Bramall Lane. Those are the games you won’t remember at the end of the season but are key. My MOTM I. Konate.”

Big win
Garcia is absolutely spot on here. These are the games that make a lot of difference in the end. Liverpool are showing every sign that they are prepared to challenge the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
It wasn’t a spectacular performance from the Reds and Klopp won’t be too happy, especially with his forwards. The likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah had a quiet night, but Darwin Nunez made a big impact after coming off the bench.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was superb during the game, but Garcia’s pick was Konate who made five tackles, three interceptions, and two clearances, as per Whoscroed. It was a big effort from the French defender and hopefully this performance will give him a lot of confidence.
