Newcastle keep close tabs on Radu Dragusin

Newcastle United are keeping close tabs on Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

A host of Premier League clubs are showing keen interest in the 21-year-old defender, including Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, the Magpies have shown extra attention. Romano says that he has heard Newcastle are scouring Dragusin in recent weeks, and they really appreciate the player.

The transfer guru further adds that United have never sent any proposal to Genoa, but they remain interested. The same can be said about Arsenal.

The Magpies haven’t decided yet about whether they will come up with an offer for him in the January transfer window.

“Man United have been scouting Drăgușin but they have never sent a proposal or started concrete negotiations with Genoa,” wrote Romano.

“From what I am told, Genoa have not been approached by Manchester United. There are also links to Arsenal but it is exactly the same, they are just sending scouts to watch the player.

“From what I am hearing, the club that has been scouting Drăgușin the most over recent weeks and months is Newcastle. Newcastle really appreciate the player but they have not decided yet what to do when it comes to making a bid for the Genoa centre-back.”

January plans

It will be interesting to see how the Magpies approach the January window, as they will surely be looking to get into the top four once again.

They might not progress through to the next round of the Champions League, and in that case, they will focus entirely on the league, which can work to their advantage.

The problem for Eddie Howe is that the Magpies are down to bare bones at the moment with so many injury problems. Plus, Sando Tonali has been suspended for the rest of the season.

In such a scenario, they have a big task in hand in making the right recruitments. They need players upfront as well, and Howe needs to add one or two quality attackers in the January window.

Dragusin has been brilliant for Genoa this season. He has made 14 starts in the Serie A, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
