Radu Dragusin close to Tottenham move

Tottenham are very close to signing Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window, according to a report from Fanatik

Ange Postecoglou admitted that his side are short of options at the back following the injury to Micky van de Ven and the north London club will look to sign a new centre-back next month.

Fanatik claims that the 21-year-old defender is close to moving to the Premier League, with Tottenham likely to be his next destination.

At the moment, negotiations are intense, and it would take a fee in the region of £25m to get his signature. Dragusin joined Genoa initially on loan and later made the move permanent in the summer. He has managed 16 appearances in the Serie A, scoring one goal.

The player’s agent, Florin Manea said in November that several clubs have approached him, including Tottenham.

Good move?

Tottenham really need to sign a new defender in the January window. Eric Dier has struggled for regular game time and has failed to impress Postecoglou.

Cristian Romero has returned to the side after a three-match ban but his performances have divided opinions among the fans and pundits.

Ben Davies is primarily a left-back but he has been used in centre-back pairing alongside Romero in recent games. This shows that there is a lack of depth at the back, another Spurs will be in major trouble if they lose any more defenders with injuries.

Dragusin has been impressive for Genoa and he has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs for a while. Although he has recently joined the Italian club permanently, he could still be on the move.

Genoa would gladly accept a high transfer fee for him, while Dragusin could be tempted to play for a big club.

Meanwhile, Spurs will face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at City Ground on Friday night (15 December).
