Raphael Varane has no intention to leave Manchester United

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has no intention to leave Old Trafford any time soon, according to journalist Samuel Luckhurst

The former Real Madrid defender has struggled for regular games this season and battled with injury problems as well. There have been speculations that he might consider leaving the club, but it appears that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

The MEN journalist shares that Varane would only leave the club if United made it clear to him that he is unwanted.

Varane has started one of United’s last 11 games as Erik ten Hag has preferred other defenders ahead of him. The likes of Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw have been used by the Dutchman to partner alongside Harry Maguire in centre half.

Big call in January?

Varane has a contract at the club until 2025. We all know that he is a world-class defender and Ten Hag shouldn’t think of selling him.

Only a few months ago, Maguire was struggling to get into the first team and it was speculated that he could be off in the January window. In fact, Maguire himself said that he won’t waste time on the bench if his situation doesn’t improve.

Maguire has been superb in recent games for both club and country and he is the first-choice now under Ten Hag.

Similarly, Varane needs one or two good performances to regain the confidence. A player of his quality and experience is always valuable to the side.

United, meanwhile, should be looking to return to winning ways when they face Chelsea next in the Premier League on Wednesday (6 December).
