Sean Dyche drools over Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure

Sean Dyche has showered heaps of praise on Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, saying he was “terrific” against Newcastle United

The Toffees moved out of the relegation zone after they earned a 3-0 win against the Magpies at Goodison Park where Doucoure scored the second goal of the game.

Dwight McNeil opened the scoring for the club and he managed his name on the scoresheet for the second game in a row. Summer signing Beto scored the other goal and Everton picked up their third win in the last four Premier League games.

Doucoure has been in terrific form under Dyche this season and has managed five goals already in the Premier League.

Dyche says that James Garner was unfortunately ill before the match, as a result, Doucoure was used in deep role midfield.

“For tonight, we have had to change things. Jimmy Garner was ill unfortunately with a sickness bug, we dropped Douc in who I thought was terrific. Youngy goes up one and I thought he was excellent,” said Dyche to Everton TV.

Key player

At one point it felt like Doucoure would leave the club after he dropped down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.

However, he has regained his trust under Dyche and has now become one of the key players at the Merseyside club.

He signed a new contract last month and it goes to show that Dyche believes in his ability. He can play as a defensive midfielder but he is probably best used in a slightly advanced position.

As we saw against Newcastle, he likes to get into good scoring areas where he is usually left unmarked and he has got good finishing ability to hit the target.

He makes around 1.6 tackles on average and plays out 1.5 key passes per game, as per Whoscored. Dyche will hope that Doucoure doesn’t get injured this season as he needs him to take Everton to a respectable position in the Premier League table despite a ten-point deduction.
