Aston Villa moved to third in the Premier League after earning a 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday night (9 December) at Villa Park.
Villa midfielder John McGinn scored the only goal of the match as Unai Emery’s side maintained their phenomenal home form. Villa have won eight games at home this season, and 15 consecutive home wins in total.
Stan Collymore has been left impressed by McGinn and has hailed him as an “absolute monster”.
McGinn took to X after the game, where he wrote, “What a week. Proud of the boys.”
Collymore responded to McGinn’s tweet – “An absolute monster over those three games kid. Put those trotters up and get some rest!”

Can Villa challenge for the title?
McGinn has been an influential player for Villa over the years and he has been in superb form under Emery.
Villa have now won back-to-back league games against Manchester City and Arsenal, and they are looking like a contender for the title. The Villans are just two points behind league leaders Liverpool and they must be aiming for a title challenge this season.
However, Villa players are not getting carried away at the moment. The primary focus should be to get into the top four this season, which won’t be easy. Manchester City are expected to shift their gears at some point and the title race could take a different dimension in a few weeks.
The battle for the fourth spot will be intense, especially if Tottenham, Newcastle, and Manchester United spend money to buy new players. Villa have been impressive away from home as well, but at this moment, they must take one game at a time.
Villa are riding high on momentum, but we will get a clear picture of the title race when the busy fixture schedule kicks in after Christmas.
