Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is not looking to leave the club in the January transfer window, as per 90min.
The Spanish midfielder has only a few months left on his contract at Anfield, and he has been linked with a move away from the club in January.
Spanish giants Barcelona are keen to get him while there is interest from Saudi clubs. 90min claims that Thiago – who is yet to play a single game due to injury – is hoping to return stronger and play a big part as Liverpool are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title.
The 32-year-old is “unlikely to consider a U-turn” before he becomes a free agent. He has got loads of experience, having won 11 titles in his career, and the former Bayern Munich midfielder is even looking to earn a contract extension at the Merseyside club.
Big decision
Liverpool need to sign a defensive midfielder in January but they may have to shift their attention towards signing a centre-back following the injury to Joel Matip who is unlikely to return this season after an ACL tear.
The Reds bolstered their midfield during the summer, and it will get even better with Thiago contributing as well. At the same time, the Reds haven’t felt his absence all these months, and have reached the top of the table without his services.
Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to push Thiago out of the club, and it looks like the midfielder is also not keen to leave Anfield as well. He has won trophies at every club he has played and probably that’s why he wants to win something with the Reds before moving elsewhere.
He still has got loads of quality and could play a big role for the Reds towards the end of the season. He will be relatively fresh compared to other players and it would be wise to keep him at the club until the end of the season.
