Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs are badly in need of a new centre-back in the January transfer window, and Ange Postecoglou wants to bring in some new faces within the next few days.
They have been reportedly in talks with the 24-year-old defender who plays for Ligue 1 club Nice. However, Spurs feel that it won’t be easy to broker a deal for Todibo at the moment, but the situation is dire for them as they need a defender immediately.
Romano has now claimed on X that “Todibo deal could collapse soon”, and the main reason for it is the timing.
Todibo is a top-class defender who would have been a fantastic addition to the club, but Spurs are not in a position to drag on a deal, especially when two of their main defenders are currently out injured.

So what’s next?
It looks like Spurs will make a concrete move for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin who has already said ‘yes’ to the north London club.
Romano claims that Spurs will send the “first verbal bid” for Dragusin shortly and will try to broker a deal at the earliest.
According to a report from 90min, Spurs are not ready to throw all their eggs in one basket, and that’s why the likes of Ben Godfrey, Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly and Sebastian Caceres are all being watched by them at this stage.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are also looking to bolster other areas of the pitch, and they have made a move to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
