West Ham United are considering a move for Nottingham Forest defender, Joe Worrall as a potential option at centre-back, as per Evening Standard.
Worrall faced challenges this season, including a reported training ground dispute with Steve Cooper, leading to his absence from matchday squads under Cooper’s management.
However, under Nuno Espirito Santo, the captain has resumed training with the senior ranks and made a late substitute appearance on Boxing Day in Forest’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle.
The Hammers have now set their sights on the 26-year-old as they aim to bolster their defence with the addition of Forest captain.
Worrall has a contract at The City Ground Stadium until June 2026 and is currently valued at £10m by transfermarkt.
Bargain deal
Worrall, who played a crucial role in Nottingham Forest’s promotion to the Premier League last season, has attracted interest from West Ham. Although the 26-year-old recently signed a long-term deal with Forest, his intermittent appearances in the Premier League have prompted West Ham to consider him as a potential defensive addition in the upcoming transfer window.
Worrall, a Forest supporter since childhood, had previously resisted a move to West Ham when Forest were in the Championship but is now being targeted by the Hammers.
Having qualified for the Europa League knockout stages, The Hammers will need enough depth to compete on both domestic and continental fronts. Worrall’s experience will prove immense for David Moyes’ side as the former England u21 International can be utilized whenever the first-team regulars need rest.
Forest could demand a slightly higher transfer fee but it is should be well within West Ham’s affordability. Given his quality and experience, it could be a bargain deal.
