Agent of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah says his injury is more serious than first thought and he will be out for 21-28 days

Ramy Abbas Issa, the agent of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, has provided an injury update on the Egypt international after manager Jurgen Klopp revealed he will return to Merseyside to continue his recovery after picking up a knock on international duty.

The Reds star was withdrawn from action after sustaining a hamstring injury during Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana in their second group game of their Africa Cup of Nations campaign last week.

Salah is set to return to Liverpool and his agent took to his social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday evening to claim that the injury is more serious than first thought, with the attacker set to be out for almost a month.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be keen to release Salah even if he becomes fit, and Egypt could get eliminated if they fail to get the required result later tonight.

The Pharaohs face Cape Verde in their last game of Group B having picked up just two points from their opening two games, and a defeat could end their campaign, depending on results elsewhere.

Liverpool have not struggled in the absence of the Egyptian, strolling to a 4-0 victory at Bournemouth on Sunday, but they need him back in action as soon as possible given his influence in attack, and Klopp will hope he returns to full fitness sooner rather than later.

They return to action on Wednesday, taking on Fulham in the return leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final before hosting Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Reds then resume Premier League action afterwards, with games against Chelsea and Arsenal, and having Salah available for those games will be a much-needed boost.

The 31-year-old has scored 14 league goals and weighed in with eight assists in 20 games so far this term, with four goals in seven games across other competitions, and Liverpool need him back on his feet as soon as possible.
