Aston Villa maintain strong interest in Jon Rowe

Aston Villa are showing strong interest in signing Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe in the January transfer window.

According to journalist, Jon Percy, three Villa scouts watched the youngster in action against Leeds United.

Aston Villa have been heavily linked with a move for Morgan Rogers this month, but they have also have Rowe on their radar.

The 20-year-old has managed 12 goals and two assists this season in all competitions for the Canaries.

“Aston Villa are maintaining a strong interest in Norwich forward Jon Rowe: 3 Villa scouts watched him in the match at Leeds on Weds night. Villa are still hopeful of signing Morgan Rogers but Rowe, 20, is also on their radar. 12 goals and 2 assists so far this season,” wrote Percy on X.

Competition

Villa have had a quiet transfer window so far but they could be looking to do some business towards the end.

Rowe is a highly talented attacker and Villa could face strong competition from Tottenham. Earlier this month, Football London reported that Spurs are keen to land the 20-year-old winger who has impressed heavily this season for the Canaries.

Spurs have also watched him this season, but it’s unclear whether they will move for him. Villa have had two bids rejected for Rogers this month, but they are expected to make another offer this week, which will be their final offer for the player.

The youngster is capable of playing on both flanks, and there are suggestions that Norwich can demand a fee of around £20m for the young talent if they are forced to sell him.

Meanwhile, Chelsea could miss out on signing Jhon Durán from Aston Villa, although they never sent any formal bid. The Blues showed interest in the young striker but he has now picked up an injury and he won’t be available for the next few weeks.
