Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has been “proposed” to Serie A giants AC Milan, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Sky Italia journalist claims that Milan are looking for a striker in the January window and they like the profile of Duran who joined in the January transfer window of 2023.
Last season, he made 12 appearances in the Premier League. This season, he is yet to start a game in the league, and all his 13 appearances have come from the bench.
The Colombian youngster still has managed two goals to his name. Di Marzio claims that Villa have offered him to Milan, but they first have to release a non-EU player to release the slot for Duran.
The 20-year-old also scored in the UEFA Champions League against Legia Warsaw. He has heavily featured in European games, but Villa may have other plans.
Loan move ideal
The youngster is an exciting talent but he is probably not yet ready to play week in week out in the Premier League. Ollie Watkins remains the first-choice striker for Unai Emery and the Spaniard needs another quality striker who can add competition for that starting role.
Duran has got potential but he is not yet ready to challenge Watkins for the starting role. A move away to Italy could do wonders for him. Villa should send him away on loan, rather than sell him permanently.
He is on £30k-per-week wages, and Milan should not have any difficulty in meeting his salary. The real problem lies in removing another non-EU player from their squad.
Villa should focus on bolstering their squad in January. They have done incredibly well so far and sit second in the Premier League table behind Liverpool. They must delve into the market to sign an experienced striker, but as per reports, RB Leipzig youngster, Yannick Eduardo, has emerged as a surprise target for Villa.
