Bild: Newcastle want £12.8m for Kieran Trippier

Newcastle United are demanding a fee in the region of £12.8m for full-back Kieran Trippier, according to Bild journalist, Christian Falk

Earlier today, George Caulkin shared that the Magpies have rejected an offer from Bayern Munich, and they have stated clearly that the player is not for sale.

The Magpies do not want to lose their key players, especially in a season that has been disrupted by injuries. Falk says that Newcastle are demanding a fee of around £12.8m for the 33-year-old, while Trippier wants a salary of £8.5m, which will take the deal well over £30m.

The German giants basically wanted him on loan, something Newcastle are not keen to accept.

Difficult

Trippier is a key player for Eddie Howe, and he is “invaluable” to this team.

If Bayern come up with a lucrative offer, then there is a chance that the Magpies could consider selling him, because he is not getting younger, and they will not get a better chance to sell him at a decent price.

However, it will be madness to send him out on loan, especially at a time when the squad is in dire need of his key players.

Newcastle do need to generate funds from player sales as the PSR situation is very delicate, but losing key players is not an option for the Magpies in January.

The Athletic, however, has suggested that Howe is keen to bring in a midfielder as a minimum before the February 1 deadline. Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move, but the Magpies are not willing to pay a loan fee for him.
