Celtic are confident of securing a deal for Nicholas Kuhn this week, according to a report from the Daily Record.
The Bhoys are looking to add depth to their squad and they are hopeful of adding the 24-year-old to their ranks in the coming days.
The report says that Kuhn did a “gym session” on his own instead as he waited on the go-ahead to fly to Glasgow and seal his move away from Austria.
The Hoops have been in talks with Rapid Vienna over a £3 million, four-and-a-half-year deal for the German winger.
He was left out of Rapid’s mid-season friendly against Weiner Sport-Club, and Rodgers is hopeful that Kuhn will put pen to paper in the coming days.
More signings to arrive?
Celtic need to bolster their squad in the January window and Kuhn could be the first of many players to arrive at the club this month.
The Daily Record claims that Rodgers is targeting a left-back and a striker, potentially on a loan deal.
Kuhn would be a very good addition to the squad. He was previously at Ajax and Bayern Munich and is very highly-rated in the Austrian top-flight.
Meanwhile, Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke could leave Parkhead before the end of this month. Several Italian clubs are keen to sign him, and Celtic could allow him to leave if they receive the right offer.
Celtic are top of the Scottish Premiership table with 54 points, eight points ahead of Rangers who have played two games less.
