Chelsea are now more keen to sell Armando Broja with his fellow forward and France international Christopher Nkunku fit again, according to the Sun.
As a result, the Blues have slashed their asking price for the 22-year-old to £40 million in a desperate bid to get him out of the way before the January transfer window closes by 11 pm on Thursday.
Chelsea were initially asking suitors for £50m for the services of Broja but have been forced to make a compromise, reducing the fee by 20%.
Fulham have been linked with Broja, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are also been, but they are still baulking at the £40m fee, and the Blues could be forced to further reduce it with time slowly ticking away.
Chelsea have both Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson available to lead their line, but they want to buy another forward and will need to raise funds in order to balance the books.
They are mindful of staying within Premier League profitability rules, and cashing in on Broja is good business as he is homegrown and would go down in the books as pure profit.
However, they are not keen to sell him on the cheap as they know he has huge potential.
The striker has bagged just a goal in 13 Premier League games this term and another one in six games across other competitions.
He notched six league goals in 32 games while on loan with Southampton in 2021-22 and he ended his loan spell at Vitesse with ten goals in 30 league games in 2020-21, so the potential is there.
The Albanian is still in the later stages of full recovery from a serious knee injury having spent nine months out of action after rupturing his ligaments, only making his comeback last September.
Broja will hope a transfer can work out in the coming hours as he wants to prove his quality in the Premier League, but Chelsea may need to bring down their latest demand to have a realistic chance of selling him.
