Crystal Palace are heavily interested in signing a new striker in the January transfer window, and they have set their sight on signing Eddie Nketiah.
According to transfer expert, Ben Jacobs, Palace hold a “genuine” interest in signing the 24-year-old Arsenal striker.
Nketiah has featured heavily in Mikel Arteta’s side but he is seen mainly as a back-up striker behind Gabriel when the Brazilian is fit. However, the Gunners do not want to lose him, unless they find a suitable replacement.
Having said that, he has made 10 starts in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
The Eagles are also keen to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike, while Nordsjælland’s Ibrahim Osman is another name on their wish list.
“Crystal Palace interest in Eddie Nketiah is genuine. Club also still considering PSG’s Hugo Ekitike. Nordsjælland’s Ibrahim Osman also one to watch, with Brighton the other club looking. But Arsenal view Nketiah as part of their plans. Offers won’t be entertained unless Arsenal find another striker in January and that’s not guaranteed,” wrote Jacobs.
Big window for Palace
Roy Hodgson has stated the need to keep hold of the star players in January. But at the same time, Palace must look to bring in several new players as they are struggling at the moment.
The Eagles should look to bolster their forward department in the January window and Nketiah would have been a smart addition.
Nketiah has got loads of Premier League experience and he is at an age where he should be playing regularly. He is good enough to start week in and week out for any Premier League side, and he would be ideal for a club like Palace where expectations are comparatively less.
Arsenal have been linked with players like Santiago Gimenez, Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, and it looks like they will only sell Nketiah if they can land one of those big names.
