West Ham winger Said Benrahma wants to leave the club to join Lyon in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers have reportedly received a loan bid with an option to buy Benrahma, but it was swiftly rejected. The 27-year-old is taking his time to decide about his next move, so it won’t be easy for Lyon to sign him straight away.
Benrahma, who is on £58k-per-week deal at the club, has been very disappointing this season, and many feel that he may have played his last game for the club after picking up a red card against Bristol City.
In case, Benrahma leaves the club, West Ham are expected to move for Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn this month. The former Tottenham winger has revived his career since returning to his homeland, and he is emerging as a “top target” for the Hammers.
“Benrahma’s move to Lyon could happen if they offer the right amount of money and the player wants to go. But it is not an easy situation for Lyon because the player is taking his time to decide whether to make the move,” said Romano to GiveMeSport.
“If Benrahma leaves the club, Steven Bergwijn could be an option. There is a possibility that he will sign because he is a top target for West Ham.”

Benrahma has managed only five league starts this season, and it is becoming increasingly clear that he needs a restart in his career.
Despite his ability to conjure up moments of brilliance, he hasn’t been consistent enough to make a serious impact at West Ham. That’s why he hasn’t been able to earn the full trust of his manager. At the same time, sending him out on loan makes no sense at all.
Bergwijn, on the other hand, has managed seven goals and three assists in the Dutch league this season.
Lyon could come up with another offer for Benrahma before the end of the window, but West Ham are under no pressure to sell him cheaply.
