West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Ibrahim Osman in the January transfer window, but the deal has been stalled at the moment.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old attacker wants to move to West Ham this month, and he is not creating any issues.
The Hammers had already agreed personal terms with the player as well as with his agent, and it happened “very fast”, but the deal has been stalled due to transfer fee issues. FC Nordsjælland have rejected a bid for Osman over €18m, and West Ham are unwilling to pay anything more than that.
Romano says the player insists on a move to West Ham and the deal has not collapsed yet, although Jacob Steinberg claimed that the “move for Ibrahim Osman isn’t happening as it stands.”
“Ibrahim Osman wants the move to West Ham and he’s not creating any issue. Same for his agent, personal terms were agreed very fast. The issue remains Nordsjælland after bid in excess of €18m rejected — they want more. Deal not collapsed yet, Osman insists for West Ham,” wrote Romano on X.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth also adds that West Ham have a price on their mind for the player.
Should West Ham look for other alternatives?
At the moment, there is a gap in valuation between the two sides. FC Nordsjælland are looking to get the best deal out of him, and probably they are in no rush to sell him.
From West Ham’s point of view, there is no reason to pay over the top for someone who is not an established top player. There is always an element of luck involved while signing a young talent, and probably that’s why the Hammers are not looking to meet the asking price.
They can use the money on established Premier League players instead, but time is running out for them.
The Hammers have signed Kalvin Phillips on loan this month from Manchester City, and David Moyes must look to bring at least one more player, especially in the attacking areas.
