Leeds United need to move quickly to sign Bartlomiej Dragowski in the January transfer window, according to a report from Spezia 1906.
Reports from Italy have been informing us for a while that the Whites are frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old goalkeeper.
The Poland international could be seen as a potential replacement for Illan Meslier, but as of now, there has been no official movement.
The report claims that Elland Road remains the likely destination for the goalkeeper, but other clubs could look to sign him away.
Several Spanish clubs like Real Betis, Sevilla and Celta Vigo are showing keen interest in signing the player, which means Leeds will have to act quickly if they are serious about signing him.
Move unlikely
Spezia are anticipating his departure, either in the January window or next summer. They are happy to send him on loan now so that they can get a decent loan fee and the wage bill will be removed as well.
These are “decisive hours” for the club and the player. In fact, Spezia are looking to drop him for their next game. While they feel that a permanent exit looks difficult, a loan move away from the club in January could be on the cards.
The main priority for Leeds this January is to sign one or two full-backs, plus one attacking midfielder. There are slots for loan additions, and this is one area where the Whites are expected to explore in the coming days.
Meslier remains the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa’s era. But it has reached a point where he faces minimal competition from reserve keepers. The likes of Kristoffer Klaesson and Karl Darlow haven’t been able to challenge Meslier properly, and probably that’s why Farke is looking to add a quality goalkeeper.
Dragowski personally wants to leave the club, so Leeds can get him at a bargain price if they make a move.
