Leeds United have registered an interest in signing Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski in the January transfer window, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper has also been a target for Championship club Hull City. Spezia technical director Eduardo Macia has suggested that Dragowski will leave the Ligurian club in this transfer window.
French club Rennes could also be interested in signing the Polish international goalkeeper while some clubs in Germany as also keen to sign him. He is on high wages at the Italian club and they would be relieved to get him off their books.
Leeds have three goalkeepers with them at the moment – Illan Meslier, Kristoffer Klaesson and Karl Darlow. But it seems, Daniel Farke is still looking to bring in another goalkeeper.
Need for experience?
Meslier has been the first-choice keeper at the club since Marcelo Bielsa’s days, and the Frenchman hasn’t been challenged by reserve keepers. It is really frustrating that neither Klaesson nor Darlow failed to challenge Meslier properly.
Farke possibly is looking to bring in another quality goalkeeper who can challenge Meslier for the number-one spot. Given the fact that the player wants to leave and the Italian club are also equally looking to get rid of him, Leeds can cash in on the player.
It seems like a host of clubs are keen to get his signing in January along with Leeds, and it will be interesting to see if the Whites come up with a concrete offer in the next few days.
The Polish international played a lot of football for Fiorentina and he has experience under his belt. He has a contract at Spezia until 2025, but given the fact he is looking for a move now, the Whites may have an opportunity to sign him at a decent price.
